Buyer / Supplier Relationship Manager

Overview

A growing, global organization is seeking a Buyer / Supplier Relationship Manager to join its procurement team. This role is responsible for managing supplier relationships, ensuring continuity of supply, and driving cost, quality, and process improvements across key material categories.

This position plays a critical role in supporting production operations by sourcing raw materials and managing supplier performance in a highly regulated environment. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and experience leveraging technology and automation to enhance procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Manage procurement of key materials, ensuring alignment with production schedules and inventory strategies
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for suppliers, building strong, collaborative relationships
  • Monitor supplier performance, service levels, and delivery metrics
  • Maintain accurate purchase orders, pricing, and delivery timelines

Supply Continuity & Problem Solving

  • Identify and resolve supply disruptions, constraints, and risks
  • Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support forecasting and S&OP processes

Quality & Compliance

  • Lead supplier-related quality issue resolution and corrective actions
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance quality and performance
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and internal standards

Cost Optimization & Process Improvement

  • Support cost management initiatives, including pricing strategy, logistics optimization, and spend analysis
  • Identify and execute cost savings projects, including tracking and financial validation
  • Maintain accurate procurement data and documentation for assigned spend categories

Technology & Innovation

  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and automation to improve procurement efficiency and decision-making
  • Support system enhancements and process improvements across procurement workflows
  • Utilize data analytics to drive insights and optimize sourcing strategies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or related field
  • 3–5+ years of procurement, supply chain, or related experience
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and procurement processes
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience leveraging AI or automation tools to improve business processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and sourcing strategies
  • Experience with source-to-pay systems and procurement platforms
  • Contract negotiation experience
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated environments
