Attorney – Civil Litigation (Construction & Insurance Focus)
Overview
A dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national presence and Minnesota headquarters is seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney to support its booming Construction and Insurance Litigation practice. This group handles high-stakes, six- and seven-figure cases and is experiencing strong organic growth, creating an urgent need for an experienced litigator to help manage the expanding caseload.
This role is ideal for a capable, independent civil litigator who thrives in a volume-based practice and understands how to manage complex litigation within the procedural bounds of civil law. While direct experience in construction or insurance litigation is a plus, it is not required—strong litigation fundamentals and the ability to take ownership of cases are essential.
About the Team
The litigation team includes 2 Shareholders, 3 non-equity Partners, 2 experienced Litigators, and six early-career Associates. The firm is proud of its commitment to mentoring and developing new attorneys, with a realistic and supportive approach to long-term retention. This role is designed as a "middle manager"—someone more senior than an Associate but not yet on the Partner track—who can help bridge the experience gap and relieve bandwidth from senior leadership.
What You’ll Do
- Take ownership of complex civil litigation matters, primarily in construction and insurance
- Manage a significant caseload and act as the responsible attorney on files
- Provide mentorship and oversight to junior attorneys
- Work closely with Partners to ensure effective strategy and client service
- Handle litigation from initial pleadings through trial and appeal, with substantial autonomy
Qualifications
- 5–15 years of experience in civil litigation
- Experience in volume-based litigation environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of civil procedures and litigation management
- Demonstrated ability to handle cases independently
- No requirement to generate new business (this is a growth-support role)
- Minnesota bar admission required (or ability to waive in)
Compensation
This is a salaried role with a generous production-based bonus structure (not reliant on originating new business). Compensation varies based on experience, with typical packages including:
- 6–10 years’ experience: $175,000–$185,000 base + approx. $50,000 in bonuses
- 4–5 years’ experience: $150,000–$175,000 base + bonus
- Total compensation is flexible and competitive for the right candidate
