Overview

We are partnering with a fast-growing retail strategy and services organization that helps leading consumer brands successfully grow their business with the nation's largest retailers.

The company combines deep retail expertise, sales strategy, account management, analytics, marketing, and operational support to help brands navigate complex retail environments and improve performance across both digital and physical channels.

Due to continued growth, the organization is adding a Retail Account Manager to manage the operational and inventory side of several important brand relationships with a major national retailer.

This is an analytical, highly visible role sitting at the intersection of demand planning, inventory management, retail operations, analytics, and account management. You'll work closely with both brand partners and retailer planning teams to ensure the right products are in the right place at the right time—and identify issues and opportunities before they impact the business.

The Opportunity

The Retail Account Manager serves as the operational engine behind a portfolio of consumer brands.

While the Sales team focuses on commercial strategy and revenue growth, you'll own many of the tactical components required to successfully execute that business: forecasting demand, managing inventory flow, monitoring purchase orders, analyzing POS performance, setting up new items, preparing for promotions and line reviews, and communicating performance back to brand partners.

You'll have meaningful ownership of your accounts and direct interaction with both vendor operations teams and merchandise/inventory planning teams at a major national retailer.

The likely product categories include small household appliances, consumer electronics, luggage, and other durable consumer goods.

What You'll Be Doing

Demand Planning & Inventory Management

  • Use historical sales, POS data, promotional activity, and market trends to forecast future demand at the SKU and program level
  • Monitor inventory levels and develop proactive strategies to address potential out-of-stock or overstock situations
  • Meet with retailer inventory planning teams to review monthly forecast roll-ups and provide data-driven recommendations
  • Monitor purchase orders, inventory flow, and product availability
  • Support promotional buys and ensure inventory is positioned appropriately for major sales periods
  • Drive supply-chain initiatives that improve on-time and right-quantity delivery

Retail Account Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day operational execution behind assigned brand relationships
  • Create and maintain new items within retailer systems
  • Maintain accurate product, pricing, program, order, and vendor information
  • Help prepare for line reviews, product launches, promotions, and assortment changes
  • Educate vendor partners on retailer processes, requirements, systems, and expectations
  • Ensure internal systems contain accurate shipping and invoicing information to support cash flow and financial reporting

Analytics & Business Insights

  • Pull and analyze weekly POS and inventory reports
  • Identify sales trends, inventory risks, missed opportunities, and areas for improvement
  • Analyze vendor performance metrics and determine root causes behind performance issues
  • Translate large amounts of retail data into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Communicate insights and performance updates to vendor partners and internal teams

Cross-Functional Account Management

  • Build strong relationships with vendor operations teams and retailer merchandise/inventory planning teams
  • Partner closely with Sales and other Account Managers to execute broader account strategies
  • Collaborate across Finance, Analytics, Operations, and other internal resources
  • Help develop better processes and best practices as the organization continues to scale

What We're Looking For

The strongest candidates will understand what happens behind the scenes of a major retail account after a product has been sold into the retailer.

You should be comfortable working with forecasts, inventory, purchase orders, POS data, SKU-level performance, item setup, and retailer systems while also communicating confidently with internal teams, brand partners, and retail planning teams.

This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys both analytics and relationships. You don't simply produce reports—you understand what the data is telling you and can recommend what should happen next.
