About the Role

We are seeking a Project Engineer to support engineering design, system improvements, and customer-driven retrofit solutions within a highly technical manufacturing environment. This role combines engineering design, project management, and customer collaboration to deliver innovative solutions from concept through implementation.

In this position, you will partner closely with Sales, Engineering, Production, and Service teams to assess customer needs, develop customized solutions, and ensure successful project delivery. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working collaboratively across teams, and driving projects to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design & Solution Development

  • Work directly with customers and internal sales teams to understand application needs and technical requirements
  • Develop customized engineering solutions based on modifications of existing product platforms
  • Lead design efforts and develop technical drawings for customized equipment and systems
  • Support design documentation including specifications, scope of supply, and customer approval drawings

Project Management & Execution

  • Manage engineering projects from concept through implementation and final sign-off
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure projects are properly scheduled and executed
  • Ensure project demand is accurately entered into production and fulfillment systems
  • Monitor progress to ensure projects are completed on time and within scope

Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a technical liaison between customers, sales, production, and service teams
  • Coordinate installation resources and testing activities when required
  • Support troubleshooting, design improvements, and system optimization initiatives
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance engineering processes and product performance

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Engineering or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in vacuum technology, thin film processes, or related advanced manufacturing environments
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD design software
  • Strong understanding of engineering design principles and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to analyze systems, identify improvement opportunities, and implement practical solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, including occasional international travel

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with vacuum systems, sputtering technologies, or similar coating technologies
  • Knowledge of electrical design fundamentals and PLC programming
  • Experience working with downstream manufacturing systems and integrated equipment environments
  • Familiarity with materials, quality control, and production optimization techniques
