Mechanical Design Engineer
Overview
A well-established and growing engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of custom industrial systems. This role will focus on translating process requirements into practical, buildable mechanical designs, with a strong emphasis on skid-mounted equipment and piping systems.

Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Engineering
- Design and develop custom, skid-mounted capital equipment systems based on customer requirements
- Create detailed and outline designs using standard drafting practices
- Design structural frame-supported piping systems and mechanical assemblies
- Perform engineering calculations including stress, deflection, pipe sizing, pressure drop, and component sizing
- Select and size pumps, valves, and other mechanical components based on system requirements
Project Execution & Collaboration
- Work closely with internal engineers, clients, and stakeholders to ensure accurate design execution
- Interface with vendors for component selection, fabrication guidance, and system integration
- Support manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment and assembly methods
- Provide technical support and respond to engineering-related inquiries
Testing, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and implement testing methods to validate system performance
- Ensure product quality through design verification, fabrication oversight, and installation support
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and system optimization
- Assist in troubleshooting system issues and implementing corrective solutions
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (or equivalent technical training) with 2–5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong experience in mechanical design, including piping systems and structural components
- Ability to perform engineering calculations related to mechanical systems
- Experience working with vendors on component selection and system integration
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering
- Experience in industrial equipment, process systems, or similar environments
- Background in process piping or filtration-related systems
- Experience with 3D modeling and advanced design software
