Overview

We are partnering with a growing industrial organization in Northern Minnesota to hire a Human Resources Generalist to join its onsite HR team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who wants to build broad, hands-on experience across virtually every area of human resources, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, training, leave administration, compliance, reporting, and HR operations.

The organization is operating in a dynamic, high-growth environment, making this an especially compelling opportunity for someone who is early in their HR career and wants to accelerate their development by gaining exposure to situations and responsibilities they may not encounter within a more narrowly defined corporate HR position.

You'll work alongside experienced HR professionals while developing the judgment and practical experience necessary to become a well-rounded HR partner.

The Opportunity

As an HR Generalist, you'll support employees and leaders across a wide range of day-to-day human resources needs.

Some days may involve recruiting and onboarding new employees. Others could include helping an employee navigate benefits or leave, coordinating required training, assisting with an employee-relations matter, preparing HR reporting, or supporting the administration of company policies.

The environment is growing and evolving, so we're looking for someone who is adaptable, curious, organized, and comfortable when every answer isn't already written into a playbook.

You don't need to have encountered every HR situation before. What's more important is having a strong foundation in human resources, good judgment, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of an organization.

What You'll Be Doing

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Support recruiting efforts from candidate identification through interview coordination and selection
  • Assist with pre-employment requirements, including background verification and drug testing
  • Coordinate onboarding activities for new employees
  • Participate in new-hire orientation
  • Help continuously improve the candidate and new-employee experience

Employee Relations & HR Support

  • Serve as a resource for employees with day-to-day HR questions
  • Support employee-relations matters under the guidance of senior HR leadership
  • Assist with disciplinary discussions, workplace investigations, and terminations as appropriate
  • Handle sensitive employee information with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Listen to employee concerns, gather information, and escalate complex situations appropriately
  • Help administer and communicate company policies and procedures

Benefits, Leave & HR Administration

  • Assist employees with questions regarding benefits and leave programs
  • Support benefits and leave administration in partnership with broader HR resources
  • Maintain accurate employee information and HR documentation
  • Assist with HR reporting and administrative processes
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements

Training & Development

  • Help coordinate and document required employee training and continuing education
  • Support safety, code-of-conduct, employee handbook, anti-harassment, and other required training programs
  • Track completion of required certifications and training
  • Stay current on evolving HR practices and employment regulations
  • Participate in HR initiatives and bring new ideas to a growing organization

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who has built a strong foundation in human resources and is ready to turn that knowledge into broader real-world experience.

You may already be an HR Generalist, or you could be an HR Coordinator, HR Specialist, HR Administrator, Recruiter, or other early-career HR professional ready to take on a broader role.

The best fit will be someone who learns quickly, communicates well, maintains composure when priorities change, and genuinely enjoys working with people.

This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who doesn't want to specialize too early in their career and instead wants exposure to the full employee lifecycle.

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong foundational knowledge of human resources principles and practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Strong listening skills and a thoughtful approach to employee concerns
  • Ability and willingness to learn employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar business applications
  • Ability to work onsite in the Nashwauk, Minnesota area
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Preferred

  • Previous HR internship or professional HR experience
  • Familiarity with HRIS or talent-management systems
  • Exposure to recruiting, onboarding, benefits, leave administration, or employee relations
  • HR certification or additional HR-related coursework
  • Experience within manufacturing, mining, construction, industrial, or project-based environments
  • Emerging conflict-resolution and employee-relations experience
  • Strong presentation skills
