Overview

A rapidly growing U.S.-based electrical equipment and EPC organization is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead large-scale substation, battery energy storage, renewable energy, and electrical infrastructure projects.

About the Role

This individual will initially join an active project in Texas before transitioning to a longer-term project in Ohio, located east of Cincinnati. The anticipated transition will occur after approximately two to three months, depending on project schedules. This is a field-based leadership position for someone who enjoys owning complex construction projects from planning through commissioning and closeout.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of project delivery, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout
  • Take ownership of project safety, quality, schedule, financial performance, and customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate field personnel, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders
  • Oversee daily onsite construction and installation activities
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, monitor milestones, and implement corrective or recovery plans when needed
  • Manage project budgets, cost forecasts, committed costs, cash flow, and overall profitability
  • Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, and vendor relationships
  • Coordinate procurement and material delivery to support the construction schedule
  • Identify project risks and resolve issues affecting cost, schedule, quality, or execution
  • Ensure compliance with construction drawings, technical specifications, permits, safety requirements, and applicable regulations
  • Lead customer meetings and communicate project status, risks, financial performance, and upcoming milestones
  • Prepare project reports, financial updates, forecasts, risk assessments, and executive summaries
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, schedules, change orders, meeting minutes, permits, and closeout records
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to Assistant Project Managers, Field Engineers, and other project personnel

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing construction, renewable energy, utility, electrical, industrial, or large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Experience leading projects through planning, construction, commissioning, and closeout
  • Demonstrated ownership of project budgets, schedules, contracts, procurement, change orders, and financial performance
  • Strong understanding of construction workflows, field operations, project controls, and risk management
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, schedules, contracts, and technical specifications
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, engineers, vendors, and field personnel
  • Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and customer-facing communication skills
  • Ability to deliver projects successfully in demanding field environments
  • Willingness to begin in Texas, transition to Sardinia, Ohio, and travel to future project locations
  • Ability to work onsite in outdoor and potentially remote construction environments

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience managing multimillion-dollar EPC projects
  • Direct experience with substations, BESS, renewable energy, utilities, or electrical infrastructure
  • Familiarity with project scheduling and construction-management software
  • Knowledge of applicable safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience mentoring Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, or Field Engineers

Preferred Skills

  • Travel & Work Schedule
  • The standard project rotation is: Three weeks onsite followed by one week home
  • Typical schedule of Monday through Friday, approximately 10-hour days
  • Most weekends off, including during the three-week onsite rotation
  • Company-paid flights home during the scheduled rotation
  • Per diem paid seven days per week, including non-working weekends
  • Three weeks onsite does not typically mean working 21 consecutive days. Most employees work Monday through Friday and have weekends free while remaining near the project location.

Pay range and compensation package

The company offers a competitive base salary based on experience, along with:

  • Project incentives generally ranging from approximately $10,000 to $30,000 per project

  • Company-paid flights for scheduled rotations
  • Per diem paid seven days per week
  • Per diem is generally structured at: $50 per day when company housing is provided, $110 per day when the employee secures their own housing
