Production Engineering Manager

Description

This position will manage a team of engineers providing production and continuous improvement support for day to day operations of a pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging site. Specifically, the Production Engineering Manager will:

  • Directly lead the production engineering team
    • Set expectations
    • provide feedback and coaching
    • ensure appropriate performance and goal attainment of team members
    • Continuously assess and ensure the appropriate team structure and coverage is in place to support growth
    • Identify gaps and ensure the proper hiring and development of employees with the support of Human Resources.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams

Duties:

  • Coordinates and leads production engineering team in identifying, planning, and executing projects aimed at performance improvement.
  • Manages own major performance improvement initiatives.
  • Investigates quality issues and monitors and ensures on time investigation report submission and effectiveness of CAPAs from production engineers.
  • Assists the team in breaking work into manageable pieces, helping the team manage capacity, work estimates, and ensures team’s accountability to goals.
  • Identifies and assists removing impediments for the team as they arise.
  • Facilitates conversations how the team is trending against the overall roadmap, goals, and objectives.
  • In conjunction with project engineering, ensures equipment and processes are designed for ease of use and efficiency.
  • Monitors projects through control phase and reports results to stakeholders.
  • Employs change management strategies to ensure team members are setup for success.
  • Creates and updates GMP documentation including but not limited to change controls and standard operating procedures.
  • Drives process improvements in all aspects of work.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in operations, engineering, or quality preferably in an FDA regulated environment
  • Greenbelt/Lean Six Sigma training
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high growth environment, making informed but quick decisions, driving results through hands-on implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to dive deep into complex systems, identify improvements, and rally support to implement
