Manufacturing Manager
Department: Production
Direct Supervisor: Director of Operations or COO
Purpose
Provides work direction to production employees to ensure quality product is produced for customers, may need to perform direct and indirect activities.
Safety
- Strictly follows safety policies, procedures, rules and work methods as out lined in Safety manual.
- Promptly corrects or reports safety hazards or unsafe work conditions.
- Actively and effectively participates in a safety process such as a safety committee, safety inspections or safety related projects.
- Promptly reports injuries for timely diagnosis and medical treatment.
- Makes practical safety suggestions to support continuous improvements in safety.
Responsibilities
- Works with planning to prioritize and distribute work load to production staff.
- Helps to ensure employees have the skills and tools to set up machines.
- Provides training on work processes and ensures processes are being followed.
- Monitors employee time to ensure they are performing to the requirements of the position.
- Resolve employee conflicts quickly; keep management abreast of any issues.
- Provide input to Director of Operations on employee performance.
- Consult with engineering to modification of jobs in order to improve production and quality of products.
- Keep management informed of production status, time lines, and quality issues or problems.
- Ensure that all aspects of plant operations are as efficient as possible.
- Regularly conducts performance reviews to ensure employees concerns are being heard.
- Conducts interviews to ensure quality employees are being hired.
- Monitors daily productivity and performance to ensure goals are being meet.
- Comply with the requirements of the ISO Quality Management System and departmental procedures, and work-instructions.
- Promotes safety by reinforcing or enforcing safety rules and safe work methods.
- Completes prompt, thorough and high-quality incident investigations that identify root causes and corrective actions are completed for all incidents and injuries.
- Conducts regular (e.g., monthly) and high-quality safety inspections.
- Conducts or coordinates regular and effective safety training and education for employees.
- Makes suggestions for safety-related improvements and/or implements improvements to support continuous improvements in safety.
Qualifications
- Four-Year College or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years experience supervising production and employees in the sheet metal industry.
- 5+ years manufacturing experience in sheet metal industry
- Ability to lead, make decisions for the business
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation, including, but not limited to:
- Occasionally sitting, reaching overhead, reaching at shoulder level, reaching at knee and floor level, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, crawling, ladder/stair climbs, pivoting, twisting, and neck extension/rotation.
- Handling and lifting of parts and/or equipment (minimum of 50 lbs. lifting/carrying and 50 lb. pushing/pulling is required).
- Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment(varies per facility)
- Read fine print and distinguish colors.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
